On this day, the travel agency delegate organizes an evening tour of the capital city.

Čičmany, Terchová and Zázrivá

A small traditional village bids us welcome. Its charm has captured the attention of whole world. Čičmany is a village of captivating ancient architecture, which is typical for the colorful wooden log cabins. The treasures of folk art and traditions are still preserved in the village, including the Slovak musical instrument fujara and of course, you will get to hear its enchanting melodies.
Then comes time to taste the traditional products of Slovak gastronomy, mainly bryndza – a fresh sheep cheese and other dairy products. You can also try halušky – Slovak national dish which you may savor at Slovakia’s biggest chalets, where you can see and also try out the production of these unique specialties.

Malá Fatra and Orava

Our journey along the traces of Slovakia´s folklore and traditions continues at rather unexpected, yet strikingly beautiful hiking trail across National Park of Malá Fatra. Don´t worry, the hike is not physically demanding and it will take you right to the essence of Slovak character defined by woodlands and mountains. These lands were home to Jánošík, the Slovak folk hero and legendary brigand that fought the corrupt and protected the poor. The hike along the passageway called Jánošík´s Holes includes many spectacular sceneries and places ripe with stories and legends.
We will spend the evening at the Orava Village Museum, the outdoor folklore museum which brings the old history of this region back to life. There, you can enjoy the presentation of folklore songs and rest at the extraordinary village inn that was set up inside a wooden mill right in the center of the museum.

Orava Castle, Štrbské pleso and Kežmarok

You will start this day with an excursion to Orava Castle, one of the most famous and beautiful medieval castles in Central Europe. This castle is without a doubt, the greatest tourist attraction of the Northwestern region of Slovakia. During the summer season, the excursion also features falconry demonstrations and knight duels.
The wooden sacral architecture of this place forms a pinnacle of Slovak folk art. An inherent part of this architecture includes wooden churches scattered across the whole arc of the Western Carpathians. The peculiarity of these churches lies in their construction; they are built entirely of wood and not a single nail was allowed in their construction. The wooden church in Kežmarok, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be our gateway to the world’s smallest highlands, the High Tatras. We walk around the Štrbské Pleso glacier lake, enjoy the mountainous scenery and we will spend the night at the very heart of these wondrous mountains, in Starý Smokovec.

Pieniny and Ždiar

No tour of this region would be complete without a visit to Pieniny National Park, where we will have an opportunity to navigate a river aboard the wooden raft boats. Raft building and raft sailing are one of the oldest traditional crafts in Slovakia and you will experience these hand in hand with breathtaking views of Pieniny National Park. This park was the Europe’s first international natural reserve and presidents of several countries braved these waters running along Slovak-Polish border. So why not you? After the sail, a horse carriage will take you back to the bus and you can enjoy hearty lunch in the heart of this National Park.
Slovakia has one of the most significant reserves of natural mineral springs. There have been over 1,600 different mineral springs identified here. That is truly exceptional number considering the size of the country. Some of these springs are entwined in legends that tell the stories about their magical and healing powers. We will rest by two of these and you may try to taste these magical abilities yourselves. These are the Spring of Forgetting, which is said to erase all bad memories and the Spring of Love, where you should drink from the hands of your loved one to seal your love forever. We will also visit the Nestiville Park, where you can see the wood chiseling hall with the largest wood carved picture in Europe. A visit to this hall features a little surprise – tasting of Nestville, the first Slovak whiskey which matures here, stored in oak barrels.
In the evening, we will visit picturesque village of Ždiar hidden deep in the mountains. We will dine in the beautiful environment of the folk-themed hotel with staff dressed in traditional gowns. Then we will visit the Museum of the Ždiarsky Dom. There you will have the opportunity to listen to Ždiar´s history, witness traditional wedding celebration and also try out and take photos in traditional costumes.

Banská Bystrica and Špania Dolina

For your last day, we have prepared something special. In the morning we will move to Central Slovakia, to the beautiful and popular town of Banská Bystrica. The city is located in the middle of the mountains and teems with a unique atmosphere. The medieval historic center holds remnants of an old castle, magnificent city manors houses, a leaning clock tower, a cathedral, and a singing fountain. All these create an unforgettable sightseeing experience. During the World War II, Banská Bystrica became the center of the Slovak National Uprising, when domestic resistance stood up against fascist oppressors. We will visit the SNP Museum that commemorates these events and the adjacent park displaying WWII military vehicles and artillery.
Our most recommended part of the tour is the village of Špania Dolina, situated in the nearby mountains. In Špania Dolina, you may look forward to beautiful nature and countryside, traditional folk houses and an exceptional church. We are going to spend our last evening together having Bashavel, a traditional Slovak folk party, accompanied by the live music and the program that will not leave you sitting in the corner. During the evening, you will have the opportunity to taste various Slovak traditional dishes, drinks and the evening will feature members of folklore artistic ensemble that will show you how to dance some traditional Slovak dances.
