We’ll hike around canyons and gorges of Jánošíkove diery, make a stop at sheep farm Syrex, visit memorial of Juraj Jánošík, the Church of Ss. Cyril and Methodius and Bethlehem in Terchová.

Fearless hero, the protector of poor and good people, the revolutionist who robbed nobles and gave the loot to the poor. Does it sound like a legend to you? It is a real figure of the Slovak history.

Juraj Jánošík, the most famous Slovak folk hero, is inherently connected with our history and culture. He was born in Terchová, small village, hiding in the forests and hills of the National park of Malá Fatra.

In his honor locals named the most famous hiking trail in Slovakia – Jánošík holes (Jánošíkové diery) and created a monumental statue measuring 7 and half meters tall to guard the entrance to the famous ski valley Vrátna.

The breathtaking path in nature called after this folk Slovak hero is the system of canyons washed by waterfalls. Jánošík holes are located in the national nature reserve called Rozsutec. There are more than twenty waterfalls and they all together form the system named as Vodopády Dierového Potoka. There are some bizarre rock formations with a specific climate where you might see several interesting species of plants and animals living. The atmosphere of this part of the National park of Malá Fatra is enchanting.

After visiting this unforgettable natural scenery of the rock formations, you will have a chance to try some Slovak original products from a sheep farm, where you may watch the traditional cheese production and those who have any questions may ask them a local chief shepherd.

In order to know whole story about Jánošík, we will visit his already mentioned memorial, later we will look around the largest church dedicated to Cyril and Methodius with wooden Bethlehem.
