Set out with us for a tour around landmarks listed in the UNESCO World Heritage – to the medieval town of Levoča, gothic Basilica of St. James with the largest carved wooden altar in the world, to the largest castle in Central Europe – Spiš Castle, and to the Dobšinská Ice Cave.

Spiš is said to be a pearl of Slovakia. Spiš is a territory where we can find many cultural, historical and natural rarities. We have decided to put some of them into this excursion to enchant you. In order to explore some culture we visit the medieval Gothic town called Levoča, the largest castle in Central Europe – Spiš Castle and we will show you the unique, lowest-laid ice cave – Dobšinská Ice Cave in the world as well.

The entrance to Levoča and its huge main square will make us sure that we are in a city of the European importance in the Middle Ages. The town has retained walls and almost all houses on the square have preserved their original shapes and materials from the Middle Ages. Thanks to that the town has kept its significant architectural character. There is a Gothic Basilica of St. James in which the largest carved wooden altar in the world, the altar of Master Paul of Levoča is hidden. Levoča, the treasury of Spiš region leaves you to enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the High Tatras directly from the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Spiš Castle. Even the region itself bears its name according to this castle, which dominates the whole region. Spiš Castle itself was built in the 12th century, before it was known as a place of Celtic and Slavic fortification. Its large area is very surprising therefore the castle is considered to be one of the largest castles in Europe.

Hold on, we can still surprise you. On our way we visit the ice kingdom of the Dobšinská Ice Cave, located in the Slovak Paradise National Park. This cave has been included in UNESCO due to its importance and unique ice decoration. Even in summer, its lowest part does not warm above the freezing point, thus take a warm sweater please.
